Good quote from a signer of the Declaration of Independence, right? I find it fitting for a walk on this holiday and long holiday weekends are an excellent time to take a walk or two.
I especially love to look at all the flags waving outside and reflect on what this day means to us and our country.
Rancho Santa Margarita Lake (in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) is an urban lake that is flat and each loop around the lake is exactly 1 mile. That sure makes it easy to keep track of you mileage. The paved walking trail is wide and perfect for the kids to ride their bikes or scooters while you walk.
I shot these photos on July 3rd in the morning. The residents in this town come out really early the day before Independence Day to claim their spots for the next nights fireworks that are shot off across the lake.
The grassy area closest to me is where the firework preparation is taking place. It looks as if the people sitting across the lake will have a super view! Do you see Santiago Peak in the background?
